This course teaches planning a website, linking it together and publishing your site.  Students will develop their own sites using the skills they learn during hands-on practice. Also learn operation of digital camera and preparation of digital photos for publication to the web

PHLEBOTOMY

Phlebotomists perform blood collection procedures, draw blood and handle, transport and process blood samples.  This course provides theoretical and technical introductory skills of a phlebotomist including anatomy and physiology of circulatory system, medical terminology, hospital departments and clinical laboratory procedures, safety, types of laboratory analyses, specimen collection including techniques, equipment, sources of error and medical legal issues in the practice of phlebotomy.

 

Internship Program This is a new program for young Vermonters (18-20) interested in learning employment skills through an unpaid internship with a Franklin County employer. These internships can lead to high skill/high wage employment.
Heating System Service and Repair

Learn how to read and use various diagnostic tools in the heating and ventilating fields, how heating systems and their controls operate, how to read and understand heating system electrical wiring diagrams, and be able to troubleshoot various residential heating systems.

 

Linux System Administration

Hands-on class designed for experienced Windows desktop / system administrators, LAN gamers.  Class is heavy on Labs, designed to teach how to employ Linux technologies in a server role for most major network services.  Students build solutions themselves and as teams, with input from instructor.  The goal is for students to think on their feet with their newly acquired skills so they are ready for deployment.
Prerequisites:  Basic Windows troubleshooting, hardware, keyboarding, comfort with command-line.

 

Introduction to Furniture Making

24 hours $369 + Material Kit Call

Class for those with little or no experience in basic joinery and an introduction to all major woodshop machines.  Students will build a small shaker hall table.

Beyond the Basics, Furniture Making Part II 5 days $549 + Material Kit Call

Students will build a trestle coffee table in this five day class and learn joinery, shaping, and finishing techniques and more.

Introduction to Turning

10 hours $199 Call

A foundation class teaching basic skills for safe and competent turning.  Student will work on a basic bowl project and receive a well rounded understanding of turning for the beginner.

Hand Tools – Basic Mechanical Training

Do you feel uncomfortable handling tools and want to learn more about them?
This class will teach how to operate basic hand tools plus portable band saws, reciprocating saws, hammer drills, grinders (bench and portable), and chop saws.  Learn tapping, drilling, threading, how to fasten ropes, use ladders and staging, align belts and pulleys. Learn how bearing should be lubricated and how they work, how to set anchors in concrete and much more.  This class is for the beginner who would like to have some book work and hands on experience.

This is the Efficiency Vermont approved training for Energy Auditor.  Students learn energy auditing viewing building as a :whole system” promoting energy efficiency.  The purpose of the training is to diagnose and resolve issues.

Principles of air leakage, pressure differences, air sealing, mechanical exhaust devices. Class includes classroom and lab with equipment and field analysis for finding and measuring air leakage using the Blower Door.
